Let's have fun doing research together.
Faculty

Professor:Yoshitomo HONDA
It's already been 14 years since I came to Osaka, the longest I've ever lived in. I feel that both Osaka and Osaka Dental University are warm and wonderful places. It's a warm city (university), and I work hard every day on education, research, and other activities. I aim to develop new treatments for medical and dental diseases and to control and elucidate the aging phenomenon by combining my knowledge of oral anatomy and histology with that of biomedical engineering. Based on the course motto of "having fun while growing," I will work hard every day, conscious of my own everlasting growth, just like the students and graduate students. Hobbies: Soccer team: Supporting Liverpool (my dream is to go to Anfield one day and support them) Reading (I read manga, anime, novels, self-improvement, business books, history books, and specialized books) Eating delicious food Favorite food: Anything related to eggs (salmon roe, salmon roe, mentaiko, sea urchin, mullet roe, etc.). I think I'm going to get gout...

Lecturer: Yasuhiko MATSUSHIMA
It has already been five years since I took up my post at the Department of Oral Anatomy, Faculty of Dentistry, Osaka Dental University. I graduated from Osaka Dental University and after completing graduate school I worked as a regular clinical dentist, but due to a connection I am now a teacher. Rather than actively conducting research, I am devoted to educating dental students. Hobbies: Building my own PC (recently, PC parts (especially GPUs) are too expensive, so I've been putting it on hold. I like sports-oriented PCs.) Railroad models (I can't acquire land for laying tracks at home, so I forcefully lay them and run the trains, but Godzilla (a family member) frequently interferes with the operation. Therefore, currently, only the train cars are occasionally multiplying. I like the Shinkansen (500 series, etc.) and cruise trains (Shiki-Shima, TWILIGHT EXPRESS Mizukaze, Nanatsuboshi in Kyushu).) Listening to music (THE ALFEE, etc. I haven't been to a live show in a long time.) Good food and good alcohol (the best!) Favorite food: Sushi (I prefer non-conveyor belt sushi, but I've been going out a lot recently) Japanese food (I'd be happy if there was a small restaurant or kappo restaurant where I could relax and enjoy good food at a reasonable price) Yakiniku (I'm struggling with the gap between the image of being able to eat when I was young and the reality as an old man)

Lecturer: Masato Nakagawa
I will be accepting students at Osaka Dental University from 2022, and I am enjoying a fun and fulfilling research life in a very friendly environment both inside and outside the lab. In my doctoral research, I worked on tooth development and regeneration, but I have now shifted the focus of my research to cellular aging, and I am excited to learn new things every day. Archimedes noticed that the water level rose when he got into the bathtub, and when he realized that the increased volume was equal to the volume of the part of his body that was underwater, he shouted "Eureka!" I would like to continue my research while enjoying our own "Eureka!" with my lab members. Hobbies: Tennis (both playing and watching), watching soccer, weight training, sauna, guitar and singing, reading, cooking and eating out, favorite foods: fish in general (especially sardine and saury nigiri), soba noodles, shochu, scotch whiskey, favorite animals: penguins

ZI DENG
This is my fifth year living in Osaka, and I feel that this course is like a warm "big family." It is very friendly to foreigners, and the gentle and tolerant atmosphere always helps me. Professor Honda has a lot of research experience, and the teachers in the classroom are really kind and supportive not only in research but also in daily life. Thank you as always! My motto is "Live in the moment." My hobbies are outdoor activities (skiing, hiking, etc.), werewolf games, and baking. I'm looking forward to visiting various places during my stay in Japan. My least favorite food is pork (not for religious reasons, I just don't like the taste). I hope to continue to work on my research in a fun and positive manner. I look forward to working with you!

D4 KE QIN
I am approaching my fourth year of living in Osaka, and my days in this course have been a great support for me. Although I was sometimes confused by life in a foreign country, I am deeply grateful for the warm gazes and natural acceptance of my teachers and seniors, who have created an environment where I can devote myself to my research with peace of mind. My hobbies are traveling and photography, and I find it fascinating to experience the vastness of the world and its diverse values through travel. I am not very good at photography yet, but I am practicing little by little. I would like to continue to carefully build up my research and daily life.

D4 LIANJING YU
It's already been four years since I started living in Japan. Looking back, I think the luckiest thing I've ever experienced was finding this oral anatomy course. The teachers have been warm and generous in their support of research, Japanese language instruction, and life advice. I'm truly grateful that they have accepted us, who are still growing, as if we were family. I'm a Sagittarius and my MBTI is ENTP (a debater type). I like traveling, adventures, and trying new things. My favorite sport is snowboarding. As for food, I like salmon, but I'm not so fond of mushrooms. I want to continue to shoot the arrow of curiosity into a world I've never seen before, beyond my own boundaries. Thank you very much.

D3 DAOYI LIU
This is my third year in Japan. I have always been interested in Japanese culture, and I am very happy to have had the opportunity to study at the Department of Oral Anatomy at Osaka Dental University. Since I came to the department, the teachers have warmly supported me not only in my research but also in my daily life, and everyone is always so polite to me that I feel at ease every day, as if I were part of a family. I am truly grateful for this wonderful environment. My hobby is traveling, and I love going out to see beautiful scenery. I also love animals, and I keep a small turtle at home. And eating delicious food is one of my greatest pleasures! I would like to continue to work hard on my research. Thank you very much to everyone who always supports me. I hope that more people will join this fun team in the future!

D2 XINFEI DU
This is my second year in Japan. Osaka is a wonderful city where life is very convenient and it is easy to find things that interest you. I feel lucky to be able to study in the oral anatomy course. All the teachers, including Professor Honda, are kind and teach us carefully, and it is a warm environment where students can help each other. My MBTI is INTP, and I have a strong desire to explore new things. I spend my weekends going out with friends or concentrating on puzzles and Lego alone. The food I liked most since coming to Japan is tuna sashimi and sukiyaki. I believe that every step I have taken in life has meaning. I would like to continue to grow into a person who is not bound by frameworks while cherishing my own individuality.

D2 WENTAO JIANG
Aiming to study abroad in 2022, I decided to come to Japan due to my interest in Japanese culture, anime, and games. I first studied Japanese in Tokyo for about a year and a half, and am currently researching cellular aging at the Department of Oral Anatomy at the Osaka Dental University Graduate School. This is my second year living in Osaka, and I am living a fulfilling life with the support of my teachers and friends. I focus on experiments during the week, go out to eat delicious food on weekends, and enjoy traveling and experiencing nature and culture on my days off. I especially love the ocean, and looking at it calms my mind. With the words "effort never betrays" in mind, I would like to continue to build up my research one step at a time.

D2 JUARU LYU
It's my second year in Japan, and I am currently conducting research at the Department of Oral Anatomy, Graduate School of Osaka Dental University. I have been blessed with enthusiastic teachers and kind classmates, who have supported me in both my academics and daily life. Recently, I have been trying to help those around me little by little. I devote myself to experiments during the week, and refresh my mind and body by experiencing nature and culture on weekends. My hobby is mountain climbing, and walking along mountain trails gives me a sense of freedom and healing. I love watermelon, but it's a shame that it's a bit expensive in Japan. I like the saying, "There is another road at the end of the road," and I would like to continue to walk steadily on the path of research, step by step, with passion and conviction in my heart.

D1 HANDONG LI
In 2025, I joined the Department of Oral Anatomy at Osaka Dental University Graduate School, where I began a fulfilling research life in a warm atmosphere. Surrounded by kind teachers and reliable seniors, I am learning more every day and receiving a lot of stimulation. In my research, I am exploring cellular aging using the short-lived fish Nothobranchius patrizii as a model. On my days off, I like to travel, walk around town in search of delicious food, and capture everyday moments with my camera while listening to music. Encountering new scenery and experiences gives me the courage to take the next step. I would like to continue to carefully enjoy both my research and daily life, cherishing my curiosity and spirit of challenge.
